EVERFOCUS IMPLEMENTS THE PHYSICAL SECURITY INTEROPERABILITY ALLIANCE

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 21, 2009 -- The Physical Security Interoperability Alliance(www.psialliance.org), a global consortium of physical security providers focused on promoting interoperability of IP-enabled devices in the security industry, has announced that EverFocus has implemented the 1.0 IP Media Device specification into a number of the company’s IP devices.

EverFocus added the open interface to its Nevio series IP products, including 2-channel video encoder, 1.3/2 Megapixel IP camera, SD IP camera, outdoor vandal dome IP camera, outdoor bullet IP cameras, and its outdoor/indoor IP speed dome.

“We are pleased that EverFocus chose to implement the PSIA specification on various camera lines and its video encoder,” said David Bunzel, Executive Director of PSIA. “This shows that EverFocus is dedicated to open standards and their implementations will be a catalyst for more interest from video management solution providers.”
The addition of the PSIA specification enables Everfocus’ cameras to be automatically recognized as PSIA-compliant cameras and stream video according to the open standard specification. Interoperable standards like PSIA’s enable IP-based security devices like EverFocus’ to communicate with today’s video management solutions without the need for a special driver or SDK.
“It is well recognized that it is difficult for an IP manufacturer’s camera to be interoperable with another manufacturer’s software,” said Qing Li, Director of Product Development, EverFocus. “These open standards help to resolve these difficulties and for us, the implementation of specifications like PSIA’s is a high priority for EverFocus.”
The 1.0 API Media Device specification enables interoperability between disparate products, expanding opportunities for companies that provide solutions to the physical security marketplace. The 1.0 specification is available free of charge and can be viewed at www.psialliance.org.
